Ancient Civilizations is the study of the history and culture of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Course offerings cover every aspect of life in the ancient world.


Here are some facts about Ancient Greece:

  • Ancient Greek had lots of city-states. 
  • Marathons came from Ancient Greece times!
  • About one-third of the Ancient Greeks were slaves. 
  • The juries were huge! 
  • They worshipped many Gods and Goddesses.
  • 12 of the Gods and Goddesses lived on Mount Olympus. 
  • Greeks called themselves 'Hellenes'.
  • The Romans copied the Greek!


What is Mesopotamia known for?
Its history is marked by many important inventions that changed the world, including the concept of time, math, the wheel, sailboats, maps, and writing. Mesopotamia is also defined by a changing succession of ruling bodies from different areas and cities that seized control over a period of thousands of years.
Here are some accomplishments: 
  • Assyrians & Mesopotamians - Farming, agriculture, and metallurgy.
  • Aztecs - Geometry and astronomy.
  • Egyptians - Ancient architecture, the art of writing, medicines, and surgery.
  • Greeks - Progressive philosophy, weapons, and naval warfare.
